I usually brush off these kinds of things, but c’mon–this is not erotica, as one commenter says. And what’s the point of the post? People read low-brow books? Why pick on these? Why not mention any other genre books? It’s ’cause it’s romance, and the stereotype of the overweight, single woman reading dozens in a sitting is too delicious to pass up. F. U., Gawker.

I found the Gawker post particularly insulting. Not just because of the comments about the book, but also the comments about the woman herself. It’s one thing to take potshots at her reading material, it’s another to be insulting about someone you don’t even know.
Well, that was obnoxious in the extreme. Not only is the post nasty, the comments are as bad or worse. You’re right, F.U. Gawker.
And once again I’m reminded why I read Gawker only once in a blue moon (mainly, when they’re reporting Anderson Cooper sightings). Vomit. That’s really one of the nastiest posts I’ve ever seen.
(Also, I love how you have to “audition” to comment. What?!)
