Valentine’s Day

Hey, Valentine’s Day is this week! Now I finally have a legitimate excuse to wear heart socks, heart tees, heart hair barrettes, my heart earrings, and–yes. I am secretly a muttony mall rat kind of gal. Not that I don’t wear the heart gear at other times, but now I won’t look cheesy but current. Go, me!
Valentine’s Day isn’t a big deal here in Frampton-Land because of the Eight Year-Old, who clamors for SOMEONE to stay with him in the evenings. Geez, kid, learn how to operate the stove on your own! Mommy needs a cocktail!
So usually the Not Traditionally Romantic, But Puts Up With His Gooey Wife Spouse and I have something specially nummy to eat, open a bottle of something, and watch a movie. Sounds dull? Yeah, YOU try being exciting after 19 years.
[We did buy a potrack this weekend. Next up, lamps for the dining room, hallway and foyer. See above for one of the choices. Ah, wedded bliss!]
What are you doing this year?

Since once again I am Valentineless this year, I’m going to see the ultimate Valentine’s Day movie, Harold & Maude at Film Society of Lincoln Center. After which I will partake of the open bar and stuff my face with the free food. I will, however in a nod to the holiday, wear a red dress.

At least there’s some perk to having teens, besides being old enough to have teens.
The DH and I will be going to a friends house for dinner leaving the teens to fend for themselves. Yeah, I know I’ll probaly be leaving dinner done for them, but at least I’ll be out and not serving anyone.

Absolutely nothing. Heir #2 has a swim lesson. The day before Heir #1 has an indoor lacrosse game. I’ll be lucky if anyone even remembers to get me a valentine!
All part of having three children, not a lot of extra money, and being married 21 years.

After the ER visit a couple of years ago I’m not much of a Valentine’s Day girl. I figure Bob and I are lovey-dovey the rest of the year so Valentine’s Day is like an obstacle course I have to run through. All the same, I did get the cards (yes, Cody (the dog) Amber and Emma (the cats) get Bob Valentine’s day cards) and I bought a small box of his favourite Lindt chocolate. I *might* buy some steak and do them up on the indoor BBQ but I have to be feeling much better!
