Light, Meet Tunnel
Faithful Readers of this Blog will recall that The Spouse and I purchased property here in Brooklyn.
Last May.
We still haven’t moved in; we’ve been renovating, making a 1500+ sq. ft. house out of a 952 sq. ft house. To that end, we’ve added a three-story addition, poured new foundations for said addition, put on a new roof, fixed headers, installed one bathroom, reno-ed another one entirely, put new concrete on the basement floor, added a duct over the stove, added a steel 17 x 8 deck, installed central air, and are going to stain and paint the old part of the house so it doesn’t look like ass compared to the new part.
Oh, and did I mention a new stove, a new fridge, a new W/D, dishwasher, and range hood? Plus bathroom fixtures, light fixtures, ceiling fans . . . yeah, my son is really stoked about going to public school. I am stoked about wearing holey jeans and not getting hair cuts. The Spouse just LOVES taking lunch to work every day, especially when it’s my cooking.
But, soon, it will all be worth it. We’ll be moving in by April 1, I’ll be drinking wine on the deck by April 2. Maybe in the morning, even.

I’ll bring the scrabble board.
Lovely kitchen. And public school isn’t so bad. After all, he might be able to arm himself with the tools the contractors leave behind.

I LOVE that tile on the blacksplash. Love it. I can’t wait to see pictures of the finished house!

Goedi:
I had first written I’d send him to trade school, but I didn’t want to insult trade school people. Then community college, but ditto. So my lame, rather snooty comment that survived.
Angela:
The backsplash was left by the previous owners; I like it, the Spouse doesn’t, but we don’t have $ to renovate the kitchen just yet.
Ilene:
Thanks. I am very excited.

More pictures, more pictures!!
Putting on an addition!? That there is scary. I keep thinking I’d like to add on to a few places in our home but I’m going to need a lottery win
Can’t wait for the pics on April 2!

Very cool Megan. I can’t wait for the housewarming party, and can we have the Christmas party next year at your house?

Megan - I’m so excited for you! And that drink on the deck should be champagne, after all you’ve been through.
PS. I’d like to make a reservation for a week in July. Please let me know what’s available.

Oh, it all looks so good! The work will all be worth it when you’re chilling on your deck in the summer. All things taste great on a grill.

thanks, guys. I can’t wait either, but EKM, let’s hold off on sending the invites, okay? Not sure what next month is like, let alone next December.

Wow, I had no idea you were doing so much work on it! I’m glad there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Yay for April 2.

Megan -
It’s always nice to see the light at the end of a tunnel, particularly when that tunnel is covered in sheetrock, drywall, and assorted household appliances. I’m throwing a pinch of cyber salt across your doorway for good luck with the renovation.
