Okay, perhaps it’s wrong, but–
Japanese people are just plain weird:
The first all-coriander restaurant has opened in Tokyo. Lucky coriander lovers now have a restaurant that caters for their love of the pungent herb. Coriander, also known as cilantro or “Phakchi” in Japan, is becoming ever more popular.
A Japanese restaurant owner started a community for coriander lovers on the internet and now has over 560 members. He has recently opened the Paxi House restaurant in Toyko which caters for the growing number of phakchi lovers in Japan.
# Kyo Satani, owner of Paxi House and the Phakchi association saying (Japanese):
“I believe a lot of people actually love phakchi. But because those that dislike it tend to be vocal about it, they overshadow those that like it. But thanks to the Paxi House and the phakchi association I think the hidden phakchi lovers can finally come out in the open.”
# Yasuhiro Wakai, 28 year-old, saying (Japanese):
“It’s not like eating marbled meat for example. it’s not about how tasty it is. It’s more about having fun realizing the various ways this ingredient can be used.”
And I like coriander/cilantro a lot, btw.

That is kind of odd, but I’d probably go there. I love cilantro!

I think it’s weird there is a restaurant called The Waffle House
At least you know what you’ll be getting. And I have no clue about herbs but if cilantro is the herb that tastes like black licorice I’m out.

Food for thought, think my restaurant would be “Rosemary & Time”-
Having traveled to Japan, this post so makes me want to go and try some cilantro at Cilantro! Funny, I always thought cilantro to be more latin, or mexican?

I’d love to see the menu.
How are they cooking this and changing it up? It cracks me up that they were some sort of secret society now happy to come out. Sort of like swingers!
Cindy, Why did you have to mention The Waffle House. Now I’m dreaming of their pecan waffles. The best in the world. Worth a trip down south.

I’d love to try it, too, I just think it’s odd that the whole restaurant is devoted to an herb.
I think cilantro/coriander is used in many different cuisines–I know Indian cooking (which I do a lot) uses tons of it.
