Motivation.

I haven’t talked about it here lately, I’ve been too busy discussing fixtures, and paint, and boxes, and—zzzzzz.

Sorry, was that me?

Anyway, as always, I fret about my weight. And I do do something about it; I work out, I eat many, many whole-ish of grains, I try not to scarf down my son’s leftovers, blah, blah, blah.

BUT with all the house reno stuff, I haven’t been able to make it to the gym as frequently. And I find, if I skip more than one day, it is crazy hard to get myself to resume going. So much so, in fact, that I have an unwritten rule (as in, written inside my head, which is where you’ll find my rants against the Pythagorean Theorem and heroines who don’t ask simple questions before rushing into danger) that I have to go to the gym if I haven’t gone the day before. Except for now.

So tomorrow is Friday, my worst day of the week, and I haven’t been to the gym since Tuesday. And it’s supposed to rain, and I walk 13 blocks to get there. How do I get myself to go?

Having outed myself here, I will have to, or risk mockage (if not by you, then by my own outed self). But–any suggestions?

If you find the answer let me in on it!

I’ve been on WW (as you know) since the middle of January and I still haven’t got the treadmill out of the room of doom. I’ve asked hubby way too many times to get it out but it’s not his fault. I mean, if I was really serious I would go up there and move the damn thing. Sure, there is about 200 lbs of furniture in front of it and there would be swearing, bumps and bruises and the animals would flee in terror. And let’s face it, Bob would come home to C-Rex but hey, the treadmill might actually end up in a spot where I could actually walk on the bloody thing.

Instead, I will count this little outburst as a workout and soldier on ;)

You could offer yourself a reward, except perhaps not Krispy Kreme donuts. Also, because you are moving(which is a type of exercise), any kind of routine or normal life is pretty much doesn’t exist. So, you have a really good excuse until you settle in your new home.

    Megan -

It seems like the walk to and from counts as enough of a workout, particularly in bad weather, but I can’t imagine taking that walk IN inclement weather. Instead of offering yourself a donut for going (can’t you hop on the subway?) and doing it, offer yourself something that is not food-related. A new lipstick or book you’ve had your eye on?

Just take a walk - I often do.

Er, what’s your deal with the Pythagorean Theorem?
