He did not disappoint me, and he thought I was something special, I gave him money, after all. He was gracious to all, myself included. This is only fair, I gave him money. (Oh, I said that already). The evening more than confirmed my opinion that he is intelligent, accomplished, talented, sincere, and well qualified for the U.S. Senate. I have watched Franken for years on TV, during the Al Franken decade, and in movies. I have listened to his Air America radio show. On Election Day 2004, I went to a live radio broadcast he did in Cambridge, Mass. He has a slightly different persona in each of these roles, and another as a candidate addressing a room. I think that such shifting is necessary, and I suspect it is typical to have another persona in an interview. Megan can feed her involvement and passion by telling all her Minnesota friends and family to vote for Al Franken for U.S. Senate on Election Day, and even consider making a contribution (time or money are popular ways) to his campaign. Franken has a slight lead in some polls, and does Obama. With effort they can each win in Minnesota. If Megan, and the rest of us, want a good laugh, search for images of Hogarth's Election series. Lots of fun detail. It is Georgian art, not Regency, I suppose. It does go to show that some things have not changed so much. Gee, it is mid-month already.
