Why Go On?

No, the post title is not nearly as dramatic as it might seem at first blush. Instead, I was pondering a subject that came up on Twitter, where I’ve been conversing–probably overly much–with other romance readers and authors.

The topic was authors who don’t update their sites, so you have no idea what they’re up to. Probably because, unlike me, they’re busy with deadlines. Now this is not a ‘woe is me’ post about my lack of contracts; rather it’s kind of an affirmation about the fun of blogging, and sharing some of my life and observations to the world, rather than having them stay inside my head.

I make no apologies for not being currently published. I am working on it, am trying to continue to goose my own motivation to write, and believe–eventually–that it will happen again. Because if I didn’t believe that, this would be its own hellish Sisyphean task. And even when I get a contract (notice the when, not the if–shows some seldom-seen optimism, huh?), I will update this spot, ’cause it’s so much fun just to pop in and try to make someone laugh, or share something I saw or thought about. It’s also great for my friends, who get to see how I’m doing so they can avoid calling or rush to the phone, depending.

Which is a very long way of saying thanks for stopping by.
