Done? Oh, Right, Done!

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Saturday afternoon, sometime between the last panel I attended and the first tequila shot I did (oy. big mistake), I finished revising That Subtle Knot. I sent it to my agent this morning, and hope it works for her as well as it does for me.

So yay.

And now I gotta figure out what I want to write next–I’m really hankering to the write more of On Bold Adventure (and yes, PIC, I will change the name–it’s way too Louis L’Amour right now), and might just go for that while I suss out more of what I want to do with the contemporary.

But now? Now a wee bit of this would not come amiss:

Post-Birthday

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Yesterday was lovely. I got up, worked on freelance, then headed back upstairs to take a nap. WIN1

Then I worked on my own writing, and finished this short Regency-set story I’ve been doing. WIN2

Then, McVane came up with the perfect anagram for my name: Tramp, Fang On Me. WIN3

The Picky Vegetarian, who’s been working like a dog WITH dogs (and cats) called, which was nice, but cell reception stinks so all I could hear was “Happy Birthday.” But still, it was nice. WIN3.1

After, I read more of The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks, which the Faux Critique Partner recommended. WIN4

[Many, many happy birthday wishes from Twitter and Facebook, plus a special post from my P-I-C] WIN4.1

Then, STEAK! And family, and wine, and laughter. WIN5

A gift of tube mascara and Godiva chocolate. WIN6

After that? The Nocturnal Aunt and I watched North And South, and she adored it. WIN7

A really, really good day.

This weekend, I am heading to New Jersey for the New Jersey Romance Writers’ Conference. Yay! The P-I-C and I are sharing a room, and I bet many laughs will be had. I also bet that, at some point, I will be needlessly snarky. The Spouse will have the care and feeding of the Nine Year-Old; look for the attendance of Knicks games (go Nate!), Wii-playing and some grousing about how Mommy didn’t leave enough a) food b) laundry or c) anything else that is difficult to locate in five seconds.

In New Jersey, I will get to see Samhain’s Angela James, who is so cool and self-assured she intimidates me (true dat!), Abby Godwin (blog to the right) and other friends from the NYC chapter.

Still working fairly diligently on the new ms., although yesterday I hit a creative wall. Bam. Today I hope to be more inspired.

*New Jersey, Megan Frampton and Not Much Else.

Happy Birthday, P-I-C!

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

megan-and-kwana.jpgSo a few years ago (three? four?) I went to the National RWA Conference. There, I met Kwana, who was a fellow member of the NYC chapter. We hit it off immediately, referencing Kool & The Gang, our dislike of most people, and sharing our lame ’80s slang.

Now, Kwana is one of my closest friends; we talk on the phone at least every other day or so, sometimes more, and we have each others’ backs. What else can you ask for in a friend?

And today is HER BIRTHDAY! So yay, Kwana, happy birthday!

(And please ignore the fact that I look like ass in this picture).

Continuing Education

Monday, April 14th, 2008

This weekend, I learned:

1. I need to be alone for a certain amount of time every day, or I start to freak out.

2. I can do a workshop in front of people without turning into a sweat machine.

3. I like wine.

4. Some people get way more obnoxious than me when liking wine.

5. New England Clam Chowder kicks Manhattan Clam Chowder’s ass.

6. My P-I-C, Kwana, totally has my back all the time (and she’s got pix of our weekend here!)

7. The Delightful Phone Friend is the best ever. I never get tired of hanging with her.

8. I can gain five pounds in three days. Who knew?

9. Black is a good color for me.

10. Free books still make me giddy.

11. I have a platonic crush on Loretta Chase.

12. Today, there is not enough coffee in the world. Carry on.

Aw, Shucks.

My PIC, Kwana, posted an interview with me about the workshop I’m doing. Click on over, ’cause you ain’t getting anything pithy here.

On The Road Again

I opened Road To Passion (thanks, cheerleaders!), and wrote a little under 500 words. Which isn’t at all impressive until you know that the Taking After His Dad In The Sleep Department Son didn’t go to sleep until after 10:30. And I curled up in bed with Kresley Cole’s latest around 11:45. So yay me.

The Partner-in-Crime, KJ, FINISHED her darn book, and I have to catch up. Bee-yotch.
